Do you tweet? It’s ok, you can admit it if you do. Social media websites, including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and scores of smaller peer networking and message board sites have exploded in popularity over the last few years—to the point that social media is now the most common use of the internet.
Social media sites offer the opportunity to communicate in real time with real people, so instead of having to ask your neighbor, Joe, why your MIG weld doesn’t look quite right, you can ask literally thousands of people for their opinions with a few quick strokes of the keyboard.
These sites are also making it easier for companies like Miller to interact directly with persons interested in welding, allowing us to be responsive to their feedback and provide them with a variety of welding advice and expertise.
If you haven’t already, check out our Facebook, Twitter and YouTube sites. As we did at the recent SEMA automotive show in Las Vegas, we’ll be updating these sites continually with new product information, cool finds and other interesting tidbits during the FABTECH International/AWS Welding Show in Chicago next week.
So tell us, have you jumped on the social media bandwagon? If so, which sites are you using and how has it changed your communication with your peers, customers and suppliers? What do you think the future holds for social media? Share your thoughts by posting a comment below.
